Terms of Use

These terms apply when you use Greensboro Residents Directory. By using the service, you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

1. Nature of This Service

Greensboro Residents Directory is privately operated. It describes and links to public indexes, record sources, and directory collections related to Greensboro, Guilford County, and North Carolina. It does not host government records and is not affiliated with any office, court, or record custodian.

2. Permitted Use

Use this service only for lawful purposes. You must not use it, or material reached through it, to:

  • Stalk, harass, intimidate, threaten, or harm any person
  • Locate someone protected by a restraining or protective order
  • Commit identity theft or fraud
  • Make FCRA-regulated decisions, including credit, employment, tenant, or insurance decisions
  • Scrape, reproduce, or republish service content at scale
  • Disrupt the service’s operation or security

3. No Consumer Reporting Agency Status

This service is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, 15 U.S.C. § 1681 et seq. Nothing on this service or returned by a linked search tool is a consumer report. It may not be used to assess eligibility for credit, employment, housing, insurance, or another FCRA-covered purpose.

4. Third-Party Resources

Government portals and outside services, including sponsored search tools, operate under their own terms and policies. We do not control their content, availability, pricing, or data practices.

5. No Warranty

The service is offered "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind. We do not promise that information is accurate, complete, current, or available, or that a linked portal will operate or produce correct results.

6. Liability Limits

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the operators are not liable for direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising from use of this service or a linked resource, including decisions based on records located through it.

7. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold the service operators harmless from claims or demands, including reasonable attorneys’ fees, that result from your misuse of the service or breach of these terms.

8. Intellectual Property

The original text, design, logo, and layout are protected by copyright. You may link to a page and quote short attributed excerpts, but may not republish full pages or systematically copy the content.

9. Revisions to These Terms

We may revise these terms by posting an updated version here. Continued use after a revision constitutes acceptance.

10. Access Restrictions

We may block or limit access, without notice and in our discretion, for a user who violates these terms or misuses the service.

11. North Carolina Law

North Carolina law governs these terms, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Public-record access and its limits are set by the North Carolina Public Records Law, N.C.G.S. Chapter 132, including §§ 132-1, 132-6, and 132-6.2 where applicable. Those provisions do not erase record-specific exemptions or a custodian’s duty to redact protected information.

12. Severability

If a provision of these terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in effect.
